The band was formed in Canvey Island, Essex, England, in 1971. Their lineup initially consisted of Lee Brilleaux (vocals and harmonica), Wilko Johnson (guitar), John B. Sparks (bass), and John Martin (drums). Over the years, the band experienced several lineup changes but maintained a loyal following and continued to perform and record.
Dr Feelgood’s music is rooted in the blues, with a raw and energetic sound. They drew inspiration from classic blues artists such as Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, and Sonny Boy Williamson.
